IGNITING GROWTH WITH COMPETENCY ANALYSIS: YOUR ROADMAP TO A HIGH-PERFORMING TEAM
Before embarking on your journey of implementing a comprehensive competency system, it is essential to understand where you currently stand. This is where our initial competency analysis comes in.
The competency analysis is the first step in our strategic process. This analysis offers an in-depth examination of your organisation’s existing competency landscape. We explore the current skill levels of your staff, review any existing competency standards, and assess whether these standards are being applied effectively.
Why is this important? Without this analysis, you may not fully understand the potential of your workforce. It is like trying to navigate a complex maze without a map. This analysis gives you that map. It highlights where you are now, where you need to be, and the gap you need to bridge to reach your goal.
Our initial competency analysis will reveal the following to your organisation:
- Clarity: It provides a clear picture of the existing skills, knowledge and abilities of your workforce.
- Insight: It identifies if there are any existing competency standards and whether they are being applied effectively.
- Alignment: It ensures that your CEO or Managing Director is fully supportive of this initiative, an essential component for success.
- Benchmark: It establishes a baseline, a starting point from which we can measure progress and impact as we implement the competency system.
Only after the initial competency analysis can we move forward with the development of the competency blueprint/framework that is custom-made for your organisation’s needs. This progression ensures that our competency system brings about meaningful, sustainable change in your organisation.
And the best part? We are offering this competency analysis free of charge. It is our way of demonstrating our commitment to your success, and to show you first-hand the value we can bring to your organisation.
By investing time in the competency analysis, you are not just taking the first step towards optimising your workforce’s performance. You are taking an important strategic leap towards reducing wastage of resources while enhancing productivity, increasing efficiency, and sustaining the growth of your organisation.

THE COMPASS OF COMPETENCE:
DESIGNING YOUR ORGANISATIONAL BLUEPRINT/FRAMEWORK
This task will be undertaken in collaboration with your organisation’s staff. We will develop a comprehensive blueprint/framework that encompasses an understanding of your organisational vision and mission, its function and job roles which will lay the groundwork for subsequent competency standards development.
The outcome of this development exercise will result in the following:
- A comprehensive understanding of your organisation and its functions.
- Detailed profiles for each job position including their responsibilities, required skills, knowledge, attitudes and performance standards.
- A functional cluster of job roles sharing common tasks or responsibilities.
- A list of key competencies required for each job role or functional cluster.
- A flexible and adaptable competency framework or blueprint that represents the organisation's structure, job roles and the required competencies.
EMPOWERING PERFORMANCE: THE CRAFTING OF COMPETENCY STANDARDS
We will develop your competency standards for each job position within the organisation after we have developed the Competency Blueprint/Framework of the organisation. These standards specify the performance criteria which include the knowledge, practical skills and attitudes required for each position and serve as a benchmark for staff’s/employee’s performance.
The competency standards will be realistic and achievable, yet challenging enough to promote growth and improvement. These standards will be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) to be effectively used in performance assessment.
The outcome is that the organisation will have a set of detailed, validated competency standards for each job position within your organisation. These standards will be used to guide the development of training modules, the selection of instructors and assessors as well as the performance assessment procedures in the following stages.

CULTIVATING COMPETENCE: YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH CUSTOMISED TRAINING MODULES
We will develop customised training modules that equip employees with the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes to meet the competency standards of their respective job positions.
We will utilise a variety of training methods to cater to different learning styles that include practical, job-related exercises to ensure the training is relevant and engaging.
The outcome is that the organisation will have developed comprehensive, effective training modules that are designed to help employees meet the competency standards of their day-to-day job positions. These training modules will also help the staff/employees to be prepared for their assessments.
FROM EMPLOYEES TO EXPERTS: CULTIVATING INSTRUCTORS, ASSESSORS, AND INTERNAL VERIFIERS
Instructors
- Selection: We will identify potential instructors based on their technical expertise, communication skills, and aptitude for teaching. They need to have a solid understanding of the subject-matter, competency standards and the ability to facilitate learning.
- Training: We will provide these potential instructors with customised and specific training on how to deliver the developed modules effectively. This includes training on the latest instructional methods, learning theories, classroom management, and use of training aids and technology.
- Mentoring & support: We offer ongoing mentoring and support as they start delivering the training. This could include peer review, feedback sessions, improvement recommendations and refresher training as needed.
Assessors
- Selection: We will select potential assessors for the organisation based on their understanding of the subject matter, competency standards, their objectivity, and their ability to make accurate judgments. They should also have excellent attention to detail and good interpersonal skills.
- Training: We will train, assess and certify the assessors on how to use the assessment methods, tools developed during the training module development phase. This should include training on how to objectively assess performance, provide constructive feedback, and record assessment results.
- Mentoring & support: It is important for us to offer ongoing support to the assessors as they begin their roles. This could involve standardisation and regular discussions to discuss any challenges faced and to provide advice as well as guidance.
Internal Verifiers
- Selection: We will choose the in-house potential internal verifiers based on their understanding of the competency system, their attention to detail and their ability to ensure consistency and quality. They should also have strong organisational and communication skills.
- Training: We will provide training to the potential internal verifiers on how to monitor the quality of the training and assessment processes. This should include training on how to observe sessions, review assessment results, and identify areas for improvement.
- Mentoring & support: As with the instructors and assessors, we will offer ongoing support to the internal verifiers. This could involve regular meetings to discuss any challenges and to provide advice as well as guidance.
The outcome is the organisation will have its own team of competent instructors, assessors, and internal verifiers who can maintain and uphold the competency system independently. This team will ensure that the training is delivered effectively, assessments are conducted accurately and fairly as well as the quality is maintained throughout the process.

GUARDIANS OF QUALITY: YOUR EXTERNAL VERIFICATION AND ASSURANCE PARTNER
As a special service to the organisation, we will provide the external verification. This is to ensure that the in-house instructors, assessors, and internal verifiers are performing their tasks according to the set competency standards.
The outcome is that through regular external verification and quality assurance processes, your organisation will ensure that the quality of the competency system is being assured effectively and accurately, maintaining the integrity of the system and supporting continuous improvement.
We will develop the following for you:
- Your organisation’s competency blueprint/framework identifying EACH job position
- Your organisation’s competency standards for EACH job position
